Trademark counsel for the entertainment world
Trademarks for Entertainment Professionals

Leslie Devlin · Attorney at Law
I help artists, creators, and entertainers protect the names and logos that make their work recognizable. Clear guidance from first search to final registration, without the legal jargon.
What to expect
Trademarks can feel intimidating, but the process is predictable once you know the steps. Here's how we'll work together, from your first question to your registration certificate.
- Step 1
Free Intro Call
We start with a short conversation about you, your name or brand, and what you're building. I'll ask how you're using the name now, where you sell or perform, and what you want to protect. If trademark isn't the right move yet, I'll tell you.
- Step 2
Clearance Search & Opinion
Before you spend money on a filing, I search federal records and the marketplace for conflicts. You'll get a written opinion in plain English that explains your risk level and whether I recommend moving forward, adjusting the mark, or waiting.
- Step 3
Filing Your Application
If we move forward, I prepare and file your application with the USPTO. I'll choose the right classes, write your description of goods or services, and make sure your specimen shows your mark the way the USPTO expects to see it.
- Step 4
Examination
A USPTO examining attorney reviews your application, which typically takes several months. If they raise an issue in an Office Action, I'll explain what it means and your options for responding.
- Step 5
Publication
Once approved, your mark is published so the public has 30 days to oppose it.
- Step 6
Registration & Beyond
When your mark registers, you'll receive your certificate and a calendar of future maintenance deadlines so your rights don't lapse. Registration is the beginning of protecting your name, not the end.
How pricing works
I use flat-fee, milestone-based pricing, so you'll know the cost of each stage before it begins. No hourly surprises. USPTO government filing fees are separate.
This does not include the government fee per class of $350.
Every name has a story. Let's protect yours.

About me
I'm an attorney dedicated to helping artists, performers, and creative entrepreneurs protect the brands and work they've built.
As the founder of Leslie Devlin Law, I provide trademark counsel to musicians, artists, and creative brands, helping them clear names, register their marks, and build businesses that hold up as they grow. My practice focuses on brand protection for people working in music, entertainment, and the arts.
What makes my work different is that I'm not just a lawyer for creatives, I'm part of that world myself. I'm a working Hollywood makeup artist with 25 years in the industry and an acrylic abstract artist. That firsthand experience paired with the unpredictability of a creative career shapes how I counsel my clients.
I chose trademark law because I know how hard it is to build a brand as a creative person. It's easy to put the legal side aside, to assume the name will always be yours, that things will just work out. Sometimes they don't. That's where I come in, helping people protect what they've built before it becomes a problem.
My goal is simple: make trademark law accessible to people building a brand around their name and image, so they can focus on growing it instead of worrying about protecting it.
CA barred. Trademark law is federal, so I'm able to assist artists, performers, and brands anywhere in the United States.
Let's connect if you work in music, entertainment, or the creative industries, or if you're building something worth protecting.
